Our story
Born from a simple idea and a grandmother’s unwavering love for service, our organization stands on the foundation she built through kindness, courage, and lifelong learning. From baking Christmas cookies for elderly neighbors to returning to school at 60, she showed us that community care has no age limit and that education and wellness are gifts meant to be shared.
Starting her career as an Executive Administrator to becoming the Executive Director of Galveston County Community Action, her example taught us to work hard, show up as our best selves, and lift others as we climb. Through the Collective, we carry her passion forward by creating spaces where disadvantaged communities feel seen, supported, and empowered. Every act of service, every educational opportunity, every wellness initiative keeps her legacy alive and reminds us that meaningful change begins with one inspired idea.

Our mission is to empower individuals to live well by increasing awareness, expanding resources, and addressing critical issues such as mental health, wellness, and education. We believe every person deserves the opportunity to thrive, and we are committed to fostering healthier, more informed, and more resilient communities.

A Galveston native, Cherelle brings her passion for dance, music, movement, and the outdoors to the heart of her community. She is devoted to enriching Galveston through movement‑based initiatives and outdoor engagements that promote connection, gathering, and self‑expression. She strives to create welcoming spaces where people of all ages can come together, move freely, and feel inspired.
Joi is a Texas native who was raised in Mississippi, where her values of service, community, and leadership were deeply rooted. Passionate about empowering others, she is committed to using her leadership experience to inspire, mentor, and create meaningful opportunities within the community. She believes true leadership is about serving others and creating a positive, lasting impact wherever you are planted.
